Flooding from the heavy rainfall from Hurricane Matthew is beginning to become an issue in some areas of Bladen County. The county is expected to receive more than 10 inches through the weekend.

On Mote Road near White Lake a driveway culvert looked more like a waterfall early Saturday morning as flash flooding from a nearby farm field inundated the ditch.

S. Main Street in Bladenboro near Poplar Street is flooding and there are also reports of flooding in Dublin.

Shelters are open in Bladen County. They are located at East Bladen High School, Bladen Lakes Primary School, and East Arcadia School. West Bladen High School is also a shelter and is the only pet friendly shelter in the county. Also, if you need transportation to a shelter, BARTS will provide transportation by calling, 910-876-4168. Please be patient as they have ben experiencing some issues with the phone line.

NC 41 East is closed at Colly Creek is flooded in both travel lanes due to flooding and Peanut Plant Road in Elizabethtown is also closed due to flooding in both travel lanes due to flooding.

The water of South River near NC 210 and NC 41 East at the Bladen and Sampson County line was on the rise on Saturday morning as were the waters of Black River and the Cape Fear River.
