Many people are looking for ways to give back this season. The cold weather this past weekend did not stop one group from giving back in Bladen County.

The Bladen Animal Hospital owner and Veterinarian, Dr. Sheila Hanby, and her staff gave back this past Saturday by hosting a Free Rabies Clinic.

The turn out was a success according to Hanby even with the cold weather. Over 80 animals were vaccinated. Over $60 was donated in cash to the Bladen County Animal Shelter. One person, Tammy Quigley, came all the way from Winston Salem and dropped off a large donation of supplies and food for the local shelter according to Hanby.

We asked why Dr. Hanby decided to have a Free Rabies Clinic in Bladen County. Hanby answered by saying, “I wanted to give back to the community that has supported Bladen Animal Hospital since 1953! Also in light of the devastation created by the hurricane, I wanted to help people take care of their animals.”

Hanby said she and her staff is planning to do another free clinic again in the spring.
