Jones Lake Easter Egg Hunt

Jones Lake State Park will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4 beginning at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is required by Friday, March 27. Call (910) 588-4550 or stop by the park’s visitor center located off N.C. 242 to register. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Friends of the Bay Lakes. The egg hunt will start at 10 a.m., so participants are encouraged to arrive early to check in. There also will be raffle drawings, games, hikes, and other special events lasting until 2 p.m.

This Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Friends of the Bay Lakes Group.  If you are unfamiliar with this group, it is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization of dedicated citizens that advocate and support the programs carried out at Jones and Singletary Lake State Parks.  They are always looking for new members and accepts donations.  Donations were used to purchase plastic eggs and candy that will be used during the Easter Egg Hunt and trophies that were presented in past car shows.

This group also received a grant from the Friends of State Parks to purchase t-shirts that are for resale at Singletary Lake. I encourage people that enjoy our State Parks and would like become a part of this friends group to stop by on April 4 and see what we have to offer.

The funds that this group generates stay with Jones and Singletary Lake State Parks to assist them with purchasing educational supplies and goods that are used for various activities that these parks offer.   There are other friends group that support other NC State Parks, for more info please visit www.ncfsp.org.
