The Summer Sounds Concert Series got off to a hot start on Thursday evening with temperatures in the mid-90s, but the crowd didn’t seem to notice as they danced into the evening to the sounds of Jim Quick and the Coastline Band. The concert series is sponsored by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

Chamber Executive Director Dawn Maynard said, “We’re very pleased.” The well attended event saw 600 people gather at the Cape Fear Farmers Market in Elizabethtown.

The band played a variety of music including such songs as “Mustang Sally,” “Carolina Girls,” and “Low Rider.” Members of the audience took the time to enjoy line dancing as well as showing off their skills at shagging.

The next concert will take place on Thursday, July 27, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmers Market and will feature the Motown Legacy Review. The concerts are free and open to the public.
