It was a festive time at the 29th annual Bladen We Care Gala which was held on Friday evening at The Venue at White Lake. A large crowd turned out to to enjoy dancing, fellowship, delicious food and to show their support Bladen We Care.
One of the many Bladen We Care Board members, Mac Campbell, addressed the crowd. He told those gathered Bladen We Care awarded 82 grants in 2017 to help those in need in Bladen County. The group also awarded scholarships at Bladen Community College and UNC-Pembroke.
The funds go to benefit residents of Bladen County residents in health care assistance.
The Blackwater Rhythm & Blues band of Clarkton played a variety of hits Lady Soul, Carolina Girls and Be Young, Be Foolish. There was also a raffle for items which included an Alligator Adventure Family Package, a Bud Comfort Cruiser 26-inch Men’s Bicycel, a Yeti Tundra Cooler, A Grizzly 75-quart Cooler, a Budweiser Bluetooth MP3 FM Sound Tower, a Michelob Ultra Pop Up Tent.
A half-and-half drawing was held and it was won by Zach Campbell who donated the funds back to Bladen We Care.
The Byron H. Gooden-Bladen We Care Golf Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, April 26th, at 8:30 a.m. at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.
