On Friday January 31, 2020 the Elizabethtown Police Department executed a search warrant at 204 Wright St. Apt. 32E, Lewis Village Apartments after conducting an investigation of illegal narcotics sells occurring at the apartment. Detectives and officers discovered 18 grams of marijuana, scales and packaging material for the purpose of preparing and distributing marijuana inside the apartment. The tenant, Joseph Cotten IV, born May 29, 1983 was not home during the execution of the search warrant.
Cotten was arrested at his place of employment after the discovery of the items inside of his apartment. Upon locating Cotten officers located 8.6 grams of Marijuana and a digital scale on his person. Cotton was charged with Possession With The Intent To Sell Deliver Marijuana, Maintaining A Dwelling To Sell Deliver A Controlled Substance and Possession Of Marijuana Paraphernalia.
Det. Sgt. W. Thompson of the Elizabethtown Police Department stated this investigation was initiated after receiving information from concerned citizens about the activity occurring at the apartment and reporting the information to law enforcement. Sgt. Thompson stated all it takes is one phone call, all tips and information are investigated. This investigation was successful because people said something and wanted something done about it.
