bcc-foundationDublin – The annual Seafood and Sunset funds development event for the Bladen Community College Foundation enjoyed its most successful year ever, stimulating $26,000 in contributions to student scholarships.

Hosted at the Venue at White Lake, the annual event provides freshly prepared seafood, waterfront seating, music, photos, and fun for attendees. Tickets sales and sponsorships combine to generate funding for BCC scholarships. The 2016 event included 74 sponsors, a leap from the 44 sponsors of the 2015 event.

According to Foundation Director Linda Burney, “The students are the ones who will reap the benefits of the funds that were raised again this year.”

Attending the event were BCC Ambassadors Christopher Carroll, Amber Johnson, Savannah Locklear, and Taryn Strickland. “These Ambassadors, received funding from last year’s event to support their scholarships,” remarked Burney. “Now, the funds raised this year will help seat the Ambassadors for next year. These young adults are literally paying it forward.”

Burney expressed gratitude to the team working behind the scenes to insure the event’s success. “We have a tremendous support system that includes college faculty and staff, foundation board members, college trustees, and community members. They are our silent angels.”
