The Hallsboro Tigers came out to embarrass Bladenboro in quick and early fashion during the early part of the 1977 baseball season. Bladenboro’s constant miscues were all the Tigers needed to get a big jump on the game early. The Tigers would finish the game with a total of 19 runs to Bladenboro two.

Hallsboro scored their first 12 runs in just three innings of the ballgame. Bladenboro’s coach Ricky Walters addressed after the game that nine of those 12 runs were unearned runs from Bladenboro.

Craig Benton and Timmy McLean were the two pitchers in the rout for Bladenboro. Benton would start the game, and McLean would finish as Benton was credited with the loss. On offense for Bladenboro, all three of their hits came from singles from Dean Hewitt, Mike Lewis , and Steve Bryan. These three batters would help Bladenboro secure their only two runs of the ballgame. Just an all-around bad outing for both pitchers and the hitters. The 1977 season did not start off too kindly for the Bladenboro squad as the loss dropped them to 1-4 on the season.
