The Bladen County Commissioners held their first meeting of December on Monday evening. The meeting opened with special prayer and the pledge of allegiance to the United States flag.
The election of board officers began with a nomination by Commissioner Mr. David Gooden to nominate Commissioner Mr. Ray Britt as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Then, Commissioner Mr. Arthur Bullock nominated Commissioner Mr. Michael Cogdell to be Chairman of the board.
The vote ended with Commissioner Britt winning the nomination. The vote went as follows: Commissioners Russell Preist, Ashley S. Trivette, Ray Britt, Charles Ray Peterson, David Gooden, and Daniel Dowless voting for Commissioner Britt as Chairman and Commissioners Michael Cogdell, Arthur Bullock and Dr. Ophelia Munn-Goins voting not in favor of Mr. Britt as Chairman.
Next, the board voted between nominations for Commissioner Cogdell or Commissioner Gooden to serve as Bladen County Vice Chair of the Board of Commissioners. Commissioners Russell Preist, Ray Britt, Charles Ray Peterson, David Gooden, and Daniel Dowless voted in favor of Mr. Gooden for Vice chair and Commissioners Michael Cogdell, Arthur Bullock, Dr. Ophelia Munn-Goins, and Ashley S. Trivette voted against Mr. Gooden as vice-chair. Mr. Gooden won the nomination.

Items the commissioners discussed were many. The Long Leaf Pine was awarded to Attorney Leslie Johnson. A receiption was held in his honor. Travis Greer, Health Educator with Bladen County Health & Human Services presented the health rankings for the county.David Howell on behalf of the Emergency Medical Services presented an agreement to the commissioners for consideration about AirLink Medical Transportation Services. Mr. Kip McClary with Bladen County presented another agreement for the board to consider on the after hours support.
Emergency Services Director, Nathan Dowless presented a consultant service contract for the commissioners to consider.

Advisory Board appointments were discussed and nominated. There was a time for delegates to address the board.

The calendar of events was announced by County Manager, Greg Martin. The board went into closed session to discuss Economic Development.
