Two new doctors were welcomed to Bladen County. Dr. Betty Bradley and Dr. Chris Conavay were to begin their medical practice at the Bladenboro Medical Center.
One of Bladen County’s oldest grocery establishments, Hinson’s Supermarket in Bladenboro, received a bomb threat. Owner J.Z. Hinson stated that one of his employees answered the phone and a voice announced “There is a bomb planted in your store.” Precautions were taken and the threat was determined to be a hoax.
The Bladen Journal announced the appointment of Larry Guyton as its new editor.
