• A 4H fashion show was held at Fowler-Simmons of Elizabethtown. The winners were: Beverly Hester, Sybil Smith, Teal Fields, Amy Fields, Anita Kinlaw, Kathy Chason, Diane Inman and Elizabeth Fields.
• Charles Davis Allen of Elizabethtown received the Pfeiffer Fellowship certificate for work in dental research at the annual UNC Spurgeon Dental Society Awards Banquet.
