A staff reportIn an exciting and educational day for the PreK class at Elizabethtown Primary School, students had the unique opportunity to meet K9 Arco, a dedicated member of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, along with his handler Cpl. Moore. This visit provided a hands-on learning experience about the roles and responsibilities of K9 units in law enforcement and their invaluable contribution to community safety.K9 Arco, alongside Cpl. Moore, demonstrated a few of his specialized search techniques, showcasing the rigorous training and skills that police dogs possess. The students watched in awe as Arco performed, and afterwards, they had the chance to see him unwind with his favorite toy, offering a glimpse into the balance of work and play in a police dog’s life.The educational visit didn’t stop there; Deputy Kelly and Schools Resource Officer Phillips opened up a patrol car for the students to explore, answering all their curious questions about law enforcement and the daily duties of police officers. This interactive experience was not only fascinating for the students but also served as a vital community outreach effort, fostering positive relationships between the police force and young citizens.K9 units like Arco are essential assets to law enforcement agencies.
