Elizabethtown, NC— Special Olympics Bladen County is an accredited subprogram of Special Olympics North
Carolina, Inc., offering year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
These athletes inspire greatness through their success and provide motivation to the many coaches, sports officials, local
program committee members and other supporters involved in Special Olympics. More than 100 athletes participate in
Special Olympics in Bladen County.
Special Olympics Bladen County will be hosting its first basketball clinic August 5th 2017 from 1-4pm at Dublin First
Baptist Church. Athletes will learn and enhance the following skills: dribbling, running, passing, shooting, and jumping.
Athletes and those interested in volunteering for this event, please register with Co- Coordinator, Shayla Yancey at
bladen@sonc.net or (910) 991-6408. Deadline for registration is July 22, 2017.
As always, monetary donations, sponsorships, and in-kind donations of goods (supplies, snacks, etc) and/or services
provide our local program with the support needed to hold various events throughout the year. Each donation will help us
reach one more athlete, so that they too may enjoy the wonderful gifts of opportunity, inclusion, health, achievement and
JOY through Special Olympics! All donations will help fund athletic uniforms, awards, sports training and competition
facilities, coaches’ education, transportation and much more. No athlete or family is ever asked to pay a fee of any kind
to participate in Special Olympics. Donations received helps carry the flame of hope for participating athletes.
