The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announced that tickets are on sale for the Bladen County Tour of Churches on November 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tickets for the self-guided tour can be obtained at the Elizabethtown – White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, any of the participating church locations, or online: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tour-of-churches-bladen-county-nc-tickets-126312310521. The Chamber is requesting a $5 donation that will benefit the Empty Stocking Fund.
Participants will self-navigate to local churches where they will be shown around church buildings and informed about church history. Churches participating in this event are Bladenboro First Baptist Church, Brown Marsh Presbyterian Church, the Chapel at Harmony Hall, Old Trinity Methodist Church, Saint Christopher’s Episcopal Church, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Apart from learning about and visiting local churches, the main purpose of this event is to raise money for the Empty Stocking Fund. The Empty Stocking Fund is a community partnership of the Bladen Journal, Leinwands, and the Bladen County Department of Social Services that shares collected funds with the less fortunate children of the county. All earnings of the event are being donated to this fund.
The tour is part of the kick-off for the Warm Southern Christmas. The Chamber encourage making a day of attending the first of what is hoped to become an annual event, driving around the county, and visiting local shops and restaurants.
