Just in the halls at West Bladen High School, our high school senior spotlight for this week has made an unforgettable mark through her commitment to academics, extracurricular participation, and constant determination. Jenna McLean is a senior whose journey through high school has been filled with nothing but memorable moments, great influences, and a vision for her future.

As she looks back on her high school years, Jenna is reminded of the many activities that shaped her and defined her experience. Jenna has been a dedicated West Bladen High School Varsity Volleyball team member for four years and has been a part of various clubs. Her involvement in Key Club, the National Beta Club, HOSA, and also the College and Career Promise Program (CCP) through Bladen Community College has added to her high school experience and pushed her to serve others.

Jenna plans to continue serving others as she heads into the next chapter of her life. After graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in nursing at East Carolina University. Jenna says that her nanny, Dianne Lancaster, heavily influenced this decision. Jenna adds that “Hearing how much she loved to care for people and becoming a strong aspect in their lives” impacted her the most. Jenna also hopes to continue making her parents, Kevin and Renee McLean, proud as she sets off on her new journey.

Looking ahead, Jenna feels as though her high school experience at West Bladen High School has prepared her well enough for college and her career, regardless of the obstacles that may get in her way. When asked what advice she has for underclassmen and incoming freshmen, she said “cherish every moment. Time really does fly in high school, and you are a senior before you know it.”

After Jenna becomes certified as a nurse, she plans to return close to Bladen County and serve the community’s health care needs.

Jenna hopes that by sharing her story and goals for the future, she will inspire others to pursue their dreams. Furthermore, Jenna hopes that through her spotlight, she will assist underclassmen in their journey through high school.

On June 7th, Jenna walks the stage to receive her high school diploma, and she is headed toward a great future with a plan, purpose, and endless possibilities.
