ELIZABETHTOWN, NC- On Friday, July 28, 2023, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office proudly hosted a Promotion Ceremony to honor the exceptional dedication and hard work of its seasoned staff members. During the heartfelt event, three esteemed individuals were recognized for their commitment to upholding the values and mission of the department.

The ceremony began with Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker addressing the attendees, emphasizing the significance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions made by the staff. “Our staff is our most valuable resource, and we are delighted to celebrate their accomplishments by promoting them from within the ranks,” the Sheriff stated.

The Promotion Ceremony saw the promotion of two deputies to the rank of Corporal. Deputy Jarvis James (pictured above), who demonstrated unwavering commitment and diligence in his role on the Patrol Squad, was promoted to Patrol Corporal. Meanwhile, Deputy Tiffany Spurling, known for her outstanding service as a member of the School Resource Officer Squad, earned her promotion to SRO Corporal.

Additionally, the ceremony witnessed the advancement of Linda Jacobs, who was promoted from Patrol Corporal to the position of Chief Jailer (First Sergeant). Jacobs’ dedication to her role and exemplary leadership qualities earned her this well-deserved promotion.

The event was made even more special by the presence of family members who attended to show their unwavering support for the promoted staff. The Sheriff extended a special thank you to the families, acknowledging the crucial role they play in the success of their loved ones.

The atmosphere at the Promotion Ceremony was filled with camaraderie and appreciation as fellow colleagues, both in attendance and those who could not be present, took a moment to congratulate their peers on their well-deserved promotions. Bladen County Clerk of Superior Court, Cristin Hursey led the oath of commissioned officers.

In conclusion, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the promoted staff members and the entire team for their dedication to safeguarding the community.
