International Paper Foundation’s grant support provided many first-time summer experiences for students living at Boys & Girls Homes.
Since 2017, International Paper Foundation has given more than $24,000 in grants to support many different Boys and Girls Homes programs.
LAKE WACCAMAW, NC (September 11, 2023) – Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina received a $4,000 grant from International Paper Foundation to provide summer recreation therapy experiences for students living on the campus of Boys and Girls Homes. The nonprofit that serves youth and families who are at-risk or distressed focused the International Paper Foundation grant funds on providing first-time summer recreation therapy experiences such as trips to the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher, a ride on the Southport to Fort Fisher ferry, Battleship North Carolina, UNCW Ropes Course, Jungle Rapids, Crossfire Paintball and Nerf, the Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Park and Shark Wake Park in Myrtle Beach.
At the Grand Prix Family Race Park, all residents attended and were able to ride go karts on seven tracks many times. One resident exclaimed: “That was the most fun ever,” after finishing their first race. Another young resident was elated when he was allowed to drive a go kart by himself at the end of the outing.
The Crossfire Paintball and Nerf outing “was highly requested by our residents, and they had a great time!” according to Kelly Coughlin, LRT, CTRS.
Boys and Girls Homes is grateful for the continued generous giving from International Paper Foundation to our residents. Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina
Headquartered in Lake Waccamaw, NC since 1954, Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina has served more than 7,500 children as a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 agency.
