FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley ExpressCare is closing to make way for a new Cape Fear Valley Emergency Department treatment area.
The ExpressCare’s last day is Sunday, Dec. 2. On Monday, Dec. 3, the ED’s new Intermediate Care area will open with expanded capacity and staff to better accommodate patients.
The opening means patients with minor illnesses and injuries will not have to compete for the same staff resources as patients with life-threatening emergencies. Patients will be evaluated at triage and assigned either to low, intermediate or high acuity care.
Area patients can still be seen at Health Pavilion North ExpressCare and Highsmith-Rainey ExpressCare, which will remain open. The facility hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
