FAYETTEVILLE – June 9, 2022 – Starting Monday, June 13, Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion North (HPN) ExpressCare will reopen on a three-day schedule, seeing patients on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This ExpressCare location closed in October 2021 to focus on COVID-19 vaccinations and testing. Other services in the facility, such as the Cancer Center, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy and Health Pavilion North Family Care remained open and are not affected by this change. Health Pavilion North is located at 6387 Ramsey St., Fayetteville.

The location will continue to perform COVID-19 tests and vaccinations on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ExpressCare will be closed for all services on weekends.

In reopening, the ExpressCare is also welcoming several new providers who will see patients at this location and at the ExpressCare located at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital: Dezmond Sumter, M.D.; Physician Assistants Dinah Oxendine, Jennifer Portmann, EmmaGrace Stochl, and Brian Watson; and Nurse Practitioner Helen Yates.

Vaccination updates

Vice President of Pharmacy and the Cancer Centers Christopher Tart said this and other vaccination clinics will offer the newest pediatric vaccines for COVID-19, for those between ages 2 and 5 years old, as soon as they become available to the public. He said local pharmacies expect that to happen later this month, but have not been given an official date for when this latest age group will be eligible for the vaccine.

Currently, all of Cape Fear Valley’s vaccination clinics are operating on a walk-in basis, no appointment needed, for everyone ages 5 and up. Several Cape Fear Valley pediatricians’ offices also offer vaccinations for children over 5 years old, but require appointments. More information on all the locations’ hours and pediatricians’ phone numbers can be found at www.capefearvalley.com/coronavirus.

COVID-19 booster shots are also available at all locations for those who are eligible. More information on when patients are eligible for their booster shots can be found at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Protection, people are protected best from severe COVID-19 illness when they stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes getting all recommended boosters when eligible.

Testing

COVID-19 testing at this location is available for individuals who are ages 5 and over. Testing is done on a first-come-first-served basis as capacity allows, no appointment necessary.

The site administers polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 tests. Patients can access their results online through the myChart patient portal (www.capefearvalley.com/mychart), by calling (910) 615-TEST (8378), or in person at the Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion North pharmacy. Results are typically available in 24 to 48 hours.

For patients with insurance, the COVID-19 tests are fully covered with no out-of-pocket costs. Patients without insurance will be billed $100.
