This past Sunday marked a significant milestone for The Lake Church at White Lake, North Carolina, as the congregation celebrated its 10th anniversary. Founded on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, The Lake Church was led by Pastor Cameron McGill with a vision of creating a vibrant community of faith. Over the past decade, the church has grown from its humble beginnings to include the White Lake Christian Camp and Retreat Center, further expanding its reach and impact within the community.
In 2017, the addition of the 3-acre waterfront retreat significantly enhanced the church’s capacity for hosting spiritual retreats and community gatherings. A significant moment came in 2018 when Pastor McGill, after 18 years of service at Dublin First Baptist, transitioned to full-time ministry at The Lake Church and Camp. This commitment was underscored by the construction of a new waterfront worship center in 2020, where the church began holding services on Easter Sunday of 2021.
The gratitude of The Lake Church can be summed up in the phrase: “To God Be The Glory Great Things He Hath Done.” This sentiment was echoed in the recent 10th-anniversary celebrations, where Pastor McGill led the day of celebration, starting with a live sermon streamed via the Church’s Facebook page. Themes such as, “IF MY PEOPLE – WE THE PEOPLE,” and “ONLY TRUST HIM” resonated deeply with the attendees, reflecting on a decade of faith, growth, and community service.
The anniversary celebrations also set the stage for future events, including the upcoming 5th Sunday Singing event scheduled for June 30. This event, featuring performances by The Port City Quartet and HEBRON, is anticipated to draw community members of all ages and celebrate the universal appeal of music and the spirit of fellowship.
Moreover, The Lake Church is actively participating in the White Lake Water Festival. Highlight events include the Car Show Cruise-In and the Car Show scheduled for May 17 and 18, respectively, promising community fun and engagement.
As The Lake Church embarks on the next decade, there is a palpable sense of anticipation for “GREATER THINGS YET TO COME,” a vision supported by the community’s ongoing trust and participation in church activities. With a guiding principle to be “Guarded & Guided by the Word of God,” The Lake Church continues to be a beacon of hope and faith in White Lake.
