The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its April Membership Breakfast at Ski Burger, 2015 White Lake Drive, White Lake, North Carolina. Among the attendees was Mark DeLap, the newly appointed Editor of the Bladen Journal and the guest speaker for the meeting. 

DeLap took the opportunity to introduce himself to the community. A seasoned journalist with experience across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wyoming, DeLap brings a diverse background in storytelling and community engagement to his new role. From managing editorships to crafting compelling columns like “Little Thoughts on the Prairie” and “In The Wind,” Mark’s career has been defined by a commitment to capturing the essence of the places he’s called home.

His decision to relocate to North Carolina was driven by a desire to immerse himself in the vibrant culture of Bladen County, where he found inspiration for his next chapter in journalism.

For Mark, joining the Bladen Journal team represents more than just a professional opportunity—it’s a homecoming. He’s eager to reconnect with the community and share its stories, drawing on his passion for writing and photography to amplify voices and foster connections.

As he settles into his new role, Mark looks forward to exploring the natural beauty of North Carolina and creating lasting memories with his family. He expresses gratitude for the warm welcome he’s received and anticipates the adventures that lie ahead as he embraces his new role as Editor of the Bladen Journal.

In addition to Mark’s introduction, the Chamber meeting featured announcements for upcoming events in the area. Highlights include the return of the White Lake Water Festival’s Carolina Ski Show on May 18th, a series of events at Bladen Community College throughout April and May, a Kids Event at Lu Mil Vineyard on May 4th, and a rabies clinic at the Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital on May 11th.
