Child Passenger Safety; school supply drive

As kids start going back to school and life get busier, now’s the time to check your child’s safety seat. Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death among children ages 1-19.

Many people don’t know that children should ride in the backseat until age 13. It’s also a good idea to choose soft toys that won’t injure your child in a crash and secure any loose items in the car.

Safe Kids NC runs inspection stations where experts will check your child’s seat to ensure it’s installed correctly and is the right seat for their age, weight and height.

Governor’s School Supply Drive

The Governor’s School Supply Drive is collecting school items until Aug. 16.

Typical supplies such as paper, pens, pencils, spiral notebooks and tissues can be dropped off at all State Employee Credit Union branches across the state. The supplies will be delivered to schools later this month.
