The Elizabethtown Rotary Club practices its motto, “Service Above Self” by giving to others. Recently the club members have been spotted all over Bladen County giving to others.

The club just wrapped up its annual dictionary giveaway by distributing a dictionary to third graders in Bladen County Schools. Michael Leinwand, the service chair for the club said he was pleased with how this year’s project turned out.

Families First also received gifts for families they have in need from the local Rotary Club. President of the club, Col. Roy Allen said the club works with Families First every year to help those in need in the community.

Last but not least the club members have committed to send at least one Bladen County student to Camp RYLA according to Allen. Camp RYLA is a Rotary camp which teaches leadership to junior high school students.

The Elizabethtown Rotary Club meets on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. at the Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery. The club has one more meeting planned next Wednesday before they adjourn for a holiday break lasting until after the new year according to Allen.
