Columbus and Bladen Counties, NC – Columbus County Sheriff Lewis Hatcher and Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker announce that a joint investigation into the distribution of narcotics in the Bolton area of Columbus County and the East Arcadia area of Bladen County was a success.
This investigation originated from information gathered from concerned citizens, which prompted Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and Bladen County Sheriff’s Office to initiate an investigation. During the investigation, it was determined that the defendants were responsible for distributing narcotics throughout both Columbus and Bladen County. On March 11, 2016, search warrants were simultaneously executed at three separate locations. During the operation, narcotics were seized, along with stolen weapons and other stolen items. Four defendants were arrested.
Sheriff Hatcher and Sheriff McVicker agree the joint effort by their agencies was instrumental in the success of this operation. Utilizing mutual aid ensures organization and effectiveness, combining resources to safely carry out operations in multiple jurisdictions, simultaneously.
“Concerned citizens are an asset to law enforcement,” said Sheriff Hatcher. “They are the eyes and ears of our community. The information they pass on to us is vital in targeting and eliminating crime.”
Sheriff McVicker seconded this statement and added, “Cooperation is the key. Cooperation is key between law enforcement agencies and between those agencies and the communities.”
Both Sheriff Hatcher and Sheriff McVicker pledge to investigate any tips they receive from concerned citizens.
