Congressman Robert Pittenger HeadshotCAIRO – Congressman Robert Pittenger, Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, had this statement in reaction to the attacks at the Istanbul airport:

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the attacks in Istanbul,” said Congressman Pittenger (NC-09).

“While we don’t know the full circumstances of those behind this attack, between Brussels, Paris, San Bernardino, and Orlando, we are seeing terrorism strike across the globe with disturbing frequency.

“As Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, I’m in Egypt and other Middle East countries this week furthering our relationships with allies and increasing collaborative efforts to cut off the funding sources radical Islamist extremists rely on to carry out their mission of terrorism.”

Congressman Pittenger serves as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Committee Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing. He is currently traveling in the Middle East for a series of important national security and counter-terrorism meetings.
