The Toys for Tots campaign in Bladen County is in need. The owner of the Mermaid Castle, Terri Maria Mills, is the Toys for Tots director. Terri Maria reported she needs toy drop-off locations for this year’s campaign.

Terri Maria wants to ensure local children will have something new to play with this Christmas from the benefits of Toys for Tots. She is reaching out to business owners and organizations for assistance.

Toys for Tots is a program organized by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys yearly to children whose parents cannot afford gifts for Christmas.

Sheila Nance, Director of Bladen County Library, confirmed each library branch would have a box for collecting the new, unwrapped toys, but more collection sites are needed.

Last year the Toys for Tots campaign helped 7,500 children in Bladen, Duplin, Sampson, and Wayne Counties.

The deadline to register as an official toy drop-off site is October 15, 2022. To help with the Toys for Tots campaign in Bladen County, don’t hesitate to contact Terri Maria at 910-633-2876 or stop by the Mermaid Castle at 408 W. Broad Street in Elizabethtown.
