As the eye of Hurricane Matthew nears the North Carolina and South Carolina border, winds are beginning to increase across the area as dangerous flooding continues. Duke Energy is reporting that seven customers in the Bladenboro/Butters area and seven customers in the East Arcadia area are without power to damage to equipment.
Four County Electric Membership Corporation is reporting that as of 3:30 p.m. about 2,785 customers were without power due to the storm. Four County EMC reports that additional line crews are assisting their personnel in efforts to restore power as quickly as possible.
Duke Energy notes that Hurricane Matthew is impacting their service area and that crews will begin assessing damage as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
