Demetrice Johnson-Jones has been named a NC Phi Delta Kappa (NCPDK) Emerging Leader.
Ms. Johnson-Jones is one of 20 North Carolina educators selected to participate in the NCPDK Emerging Leaders program that was held November 11-13 at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching in Cullowhee, NC. The cohort includes teacher leaders, instructional coaches, assistant principals, principals, curriculum coordinators, and superintendents from across the state. Nearly 50 educators applied for the leadership program.
The program will provide educators with the opportunity to networks with leaders from across the state. Leadership sessions will include curriculum and instruction, digital leadership and education policy/advocacy. Participants will also have the opportunity to share resources, instructional strategies and lessons learned. Each NCPDK Merging Leader will be featured on the NCPDK website at http://ncpdk.weebly.com.
PDK International is an association that represents nearly 30,000 professionals in K-12 education. NCPDK is the state chapter of PDK International. Leslie Kinard, President of NCPDK, said, ” We are truly ecstatic to be able to impact the educational experience of students across the state of North Carolina by bringing together like-minded educators to offer growth opportunities and to create a new community of leaders.”
Ms. Johnson-Jones is one of the state’s forward thinking, innovative leaders with a desire to grow to better serve schools and children.
Unique often comes to mind when describing Demetrice Johnson-Jones. With over 20 years’ experience working with students in North Carolina she is dedicated to her craft. Ms. Johnson-Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina Central University in Political Science and Public Administration and Masters in Elementary Education and School Administration from Fayetteville State University. Ms. Johnson-Jones taught for nine years and has been in Administration for over ten years. She is currently the principal at East Arcadia School in rural Bladen County.
Ms. Johnson-Jones is extremely family oriented sharing all her free time with her daughter, Destini Jones who attends high school in Bladen County and her sisters who also work for Bladen County Schools.
