Spirits in Bladen County are on the rise. The ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) store in Elizabethtown had a banner year as reported by the North Carolina ABC Control Board and alcohol is now offered in more areas throughout the county.

Dublin residents voted for alcohol sales in their stores and restaurants during the November election this year and the Elizabethtown ABC Store reported high profits.

The Elizabethtown store had gross sales of $1,403,608 in the fiscal year of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. Total profit for the store was 9.5% of gross. Profit distributions reported were $4,262 to law enforcement, $6,477 to alcohol education and county and municipal distributions were $119,270. The store, located on highway 87 west in Elizabethtown, sold 93,194 bottles and 28,636 mini bottles of booze according to the state report.

Lu Mil Vineyard and the local IGA in Dublin partnered together shortly after the Dublin elections offering the vineyard’s wines at the grocery store. The new year may have Bladen County alcohol statistics and sales even higher than this year’s numbers.
