A staff reportThe Elizabethtown Council is set to convene for its regular meeting on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM, at the Town of Elizabethtown Town Hall. Mayor Sylvia Campbell will preside over the session, commencing with the traditional Opening and Call to Order.The meeting will begin with a presentation of Colors by cadets from the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy, followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Pro Tem Rufus Lloyd will then lead the invocation, setting the tone for the proceedings.Council members will be asked to approve various Consent Agenda items, which include routine matters for consideration by the Council. These items cover administrative tasks and updates crucial to the town’s operations.The Town Manager will provide updates to the Council, offering insights into ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the community’s well-being.Several administrative matters will be addressed during the meeting, including updates on code enforcement issues and appointments to the Recreation Commission. Additionally, Council members will be asked to approve agreements related to the Airport Rehabilitation Project and the Cape Fear Bridge Lighting Project, as well as a contract for mowing services with M&C Lawn Care.During the “Briefly” segment, Council members will receive reminders and announcements pertinent to town affairs and upcoming events.
The Council will open the floor to the public, allowing residents to voice any concerns or comments they may have regarding town matters.Mayor Sylvia Campbell will call for a motion to enter into a Closed Session to discuss personnel matters related to the Town Manager Contract.Finally, Mayor Campbell will seek a motion to adjourn the meeting, marking the conclusion of the session.The regular meeting presents an opportunity for the Elizabethtown Council to address various issues and initiatives vital to the town’s continued growth and prosperity.
