The town of Elizabethtown has a new distinction after being as the No. 1 small town to not ignore in North Carolina. The honor was restored in an article published on the website www.onlyinyourstate.com.

The article titled, “12 Charming Small Towns In North Carolina You Simply Can’t Ignore In 2018” named Elizabethtown as the No. 1 small town destination in North Carolina. The town has plenty to offer to visitors and residents alike.

Elizabethtown offers Tory Hole Park which offers walking trails, an amphitheater, disc golf, and picnic and playground area. Also, the downtown offers plenty of shopping and when you have finished your shopping list, there are several restaurants to check out.

During the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends, merchants conduct an annual sidewalk sale. Visitors and local residents enjoy browsing for bargains among the racks of clothing, shoes, and more.

Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery offers not only a fine dining experience but it also offers cabins for rent, a ballroom, and live entertainment. They also host weddings and other events. You can stroll the grounds and enjoy the petting zoo or sit on the porch or patio and enjoy the day.

The Cape Fear Farmer’s Market, located at 106 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Elizabethtown, hosts the Summer Sounds Concert series during the months of July and August. It also boasts fresh produce offered by local farmers during the spring and summer months.

Melvin’s Hamburgers has been a Bladen County staple since the 1930s. They offer “Carolina” style hot dogs and hamburgers.

Elizabethtown is in good company on the list. Other nearby towns in the region who made the list include Southport at No. 4, Beaufort at No. 6, and Bath at No. 7.
