The Christmas weekend brings plenty of excitement as everyone is busy making final preparations for Christmas morning. There is plenty to do in Bladen County this weekend.
On Saturday, Dec 23, the Jones Lake State Park will be holding an event free of charge. It will be open to the general public and all participants should meet at the jones Lake Park Visitor Center at 10 a.m. The event will be about learning how to ID, migration routes, and the waterfowl found in the area. For more information about the event call the Park office at 910-588-4550.
On Sunday, December 24th, some churches have announced special services. They are as follows:
*The Briar Branch Baptist Church will be having service at 10 a.m. called “The Christmas Story in Carols”;
*The Butters Baptist Church will having an early service at 9 a.m. featuring a Children’s Play & Choir;
*Dublin First Baptist Church will have a Christmas Celebration a 10:30 a.m. called “Name Above All Names”. They will also have a Candlelight Service from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.;
*The Elizabethtown Baptist Church will have their service at 6 p.m. ;
*The Galeed Baptist Church Sunday School will meet at 9:45 a.m. followed by a worship service beginning at 10:50 a.m. with the “The Lords Supper” at 5 p.m.;
*Sandy Grove Baptist Church will have communion at 5:30 p.m. There will be a Christmas play and choir performance at 6 p.m. followed by food, fellowship, and activities.
*Second Chance Community Church will have their service at 11 a.m. “The Christmas Story”;
*The Lake Church will have their service at 8:32 a.m. “Name Above All Names”;
*White Lake Baptist Church will have their service at 10 a.m.
