Spread the love

By Cara Beth Lewis

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. There are several events planned in observance of the holiday here in Bladen County, and we want to make sure that you do not miss out!

Many Thanksgiving events have already taken place in all corners of our community! From Thanksgiving-themed story time at the library, to “Turkey Trots” at county offices, to community dinners at local churches and organizations. Although many people have a busy week planned, Bladen County will have a few things going on this week in observance of the holiday.

Just a few things to know about this week…

  • The Lake Church will host a community Thanksgiving dinner, free of charge, from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, November 23rd. Everyone is invited! Located at 1930 White Lake Drive.
  • Tonight, Tuesday, November 22nd, Foundation Church is hosting a Community Night of Worship. They shared on social media, “This will be an awesome night full of fellowship, Thanksgiving, and songs of praise to the one true God. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! Bring your family, invite your friends, invite your neighbors. It will be an amazing night.”
  • Thanksgiving Basket Deliveries in Elizabethtown – The Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church will transport one hundred (100) Thanksgiving baskets on November 22nd, 2022, to schools in Bladen County, according to Arthur Bullock on social media. He shared, “Indigent households previously identified by school administrators will pick them up at the local schools. Baskets contain the following items: stove top dressing, rice, sweet potatoes, boxes of mac and cheese, green beans, Jiffy Cornbread, cake mix, can of icing, sugar, kool-aid, can of gravy, cranberry sauce, and a frozen turkey.”
  • All branches of Bladen County Public Library will be closed Thursday, November 24th through Sunday, November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving.

Many local businesses have been taking orders for desserts and Thanksgiving meals for weeks now in preparation for the holiday. Small businesses such as Burney’s Sweets and More, 5 Guys and a Girl Catering, Cindy’s Restaurant, and many others provide high-quality meals and desserts to their customers. It is important to support these local businesses all year round, especially during the holidays!

Thanksgiving comes to an end as quickly as it approaches, and then Christmas events will be in full swing here in the Mother County. We are lucky to have so much to enjoy, right here at home, in celebration of the holidays! Keep an eye on BladenOnline’s event page to stay updated as we continue throughout the holiday season: upcoming-events

We wish you safe travels, good times, and a Thanksgiving full of delicious food and memories made!
