Farrell Murchison

East Bladen grad Farrell Murchison rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown Saturday, but his Louisburg Hurricanes dropped their first football game of the season 68-41 to Nassau Community College of Long Island, NY.

Murchison and his twin brother Larrell Murchison were also credited with two tackles each on defense.

Farrell Murchison picked up first downs with runs of 11 and 22 yards on the first Hurricane possession, but the drive stalled at the Nassau 33 yardline.

Midway the second quarter Farrell Murchison broke free and galloped 60 yards for a Louisburg touchdown that trimmed the Lion lead to 34-20.

On the second Hurricane possession of the second half, Farrell Murchison busted loose again and raced 65 yards to the Nassau 16 yardline. Louisburg was eventually stopped on downs at the 15.

The loss was the first of the season for the Hurricanes who finished the season with a 7-1 record and were ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA national poll.
