The Guardian ad Litem program in Bladen and Columbus counties is participating in a program called the Peanut Butter and Jelly Campaign. They are accepting donations of peanut butter and jelly products in plastic containers through Saturday, January 20th.

Residents in Bladen County can drop their containers of peanut butter and jelly off at the Elizabethtown Fire Department and at the Bladenboro Fire Department.

Scott A. Herrera, the Guardian ad Litem Program Supervisor for Prosecutorial District 13, said in an email, “This is the second year Guardian ad Litem has done this campaign.”

Jeff Maidment, with the Guardian ad Litem program, said, “It (Peanut Butter and Jelly Campaign) is designed to raise awareness about the Guardian ad Litem program.”

The Guardian ad Litem program trains volunteers to become advocates for children and represent their interests in the North Carolina judicial system.

All of the items collected will go to a local food bank in each county. In Bladen County, items collected will be donated to the Bladen Crisis Assistance Food Bank.

The goal is to collect more than 10,000 plastic containers of peanut butter and jelly statewide for food banks located throughout North Carolina.
