Pre-Revolutionary War era home of Col. James Richardson and family known as Harmony Hall will have a community workday this weekend. During Hurricans Matthew and Florence the plantation received a lot of damage. Harmony Hall is owned by Harmony Hall Plantation Village, Inc. and is operated and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. The home place has been on the National Register of Historic Landmarks since 1972.

Community members are gathering together for a workday this Saturday, November 7 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Volunteers are needed. The worksite is located at  1615 River Road in White Oak, N.C.

The groups need help to:

• Relocate the River Trail

• Scrape & Paint the Tatum Store, Chapel, and the General Store

• Clean the interiors of the Tatum Store, the Chapel and the General Store

• Repaint the restrooms

• Build an exterior and insulate the pump house

All volunteers will be assigned work in small groups. Face coverings or social distancing are encouraged.

Harmony Hall Plantation Village Inc. holds a 501(c)3 tax exemption and will graciously accept donation of any amount to continue preservation efforts and education.
