The Bladen County Health Department will conduct an Open House on Tuesday, April 4, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Health Department is located at 300 Mercer Mill Road in Elizabethtown.

Health and Human Services Director David Howard said said the Open House is a way to showcase everything the public health does for individuals and the community. Howard said the event is an opportunity for the community to come in and learn about the various services offered at the Health Department.

Carol Strickland with the Bladen County Health Department, said the Open House is part of the activities planned for Public Health Week. The theme for the Open House is “An Ounce of Prevention.”

Strickland said the Bladen County Public Library will have a table at the event and the Bookmobile will also be available. She said the library will present a story time during the event.

The K-9 unit from the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office will be present and the Elizabethtown Fire Department will be on-hand with information and kids can view the fire truck. Strickland said there will also be booths for blood pressure checks, information tables, and the animal shelter will be present with pets for adoption. All normal pet adoption fees will apply.

Strickland said there will also be an opportunity to have your pet vaccinated for rabies during the event. The rabies shots are the one year shot and will cost $6 each.
