A staff report

The Bladen County Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post is working in conjunction with Bladen Community College (BCC) to host a Vietnam War Era Veteran Commemoration Ceremony on Good Friday (March 29, 2024, from 10:00am until 11:30 am) in the Main Auditorium at BCC.

Leon Grimes, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist/Local Veterans Employment Representative, stated in an announcement, “We would very much like to acknowledge the bravery, sacrifices, and service of those who were in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam War Era.”

Anyone who wants to nominate a Vietnam War-era veteran can register the veteran by calling the Bladen County VFW Post Commander, Mr. Dana Gill, at (910)364-5128. Nominations need to include the following information:

Name of the (living or deceased) Veteran

Address of the Veteran

Branch of Service

Rank

Dates of Service (if not known, approximate dates)

Main Duty Station

It takes less than 60 seconds to register a Veteran to receive this honor. The Bladen County VFW will stop taking registrations for the event on February 17, 2024.

Each Vietnam War Era Veteran (or surviving spouse or family member) will be recognized during the event and will receive a Vietnam War Era Veteran Commemorative Lapel Pin.
