The National Weather Service of Wilmington released the latest briefing, with changes including:

  • adjustments in rainfall timing toward the end of the event
  • tornado risk increasing earlier
  • Gale Warning now in effect for the adjacent coastal waters out to 20 nm, and
  • introduction of some low-end wind impacts

In the email update, Steven Pfaff,

Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service stated, in general, while winds will increase Thursday, well in advance of Ian, most impacts across southeast NC and northeast SC will develop Friday and persist into Saturday. Drier weather is expected by Sunday/Monday with much lower rainfall chances.
