Here are the programs scheduled for January at Jones Lake State Park.

FIRST DAY HIKE
Jan. 1, 2 p.m.
Start 2024 with a guided hike around a Carolina Bay lake. Learn about the flora and fauna of this unique environment during an easy 1-mile hike on the Cedar Loop Trail. Meet at the visitor center.
EXHIBIT HALL TOUR
Jan. 6, 2 p.m.
Join a park ranger and learn about the geological mysteries of the Carolina Bays. Formation theories and the natural communities associated with Carolina Bays will be discussed. Participants should meet at the Jones Lake Visitor Center.
SNAKES
Jan. 13, 2 p.m.
Jan. 20, 2 p.m.
Ever wonder what snakes’ species are at home in eastern North Carolina. Which ones are venomous? Join a park ranger at the Visitor Center in exploring the various snakes in this area and the other unique species found throughout our great state.
