A new documentary on the death of Lennon Lacy is set to premier this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival which is held from Saturday, January 26th, through Saturday, February 2, 2019. The name of the documentary is “Always in Season” and features Claudia Lacy’s attempt to find answers and justice.

Lacy’s mother, Claudia Lacy, has traveled to Sundance to view the documentary for the first time, according to WTVD.

Lacy, who was a 17-year old West Bladen High School Football player, was  found dead in August of 2014. He was found hanging from a swing set, in a mobile home park not far from his home. The death was investigated by the local police and by the FBI, all reaching the conclusion the death was a suicide. Rev. William Barber, with the NAACP, and  the Rogers Law Firm along with Lacy’s mother, all believe Lacy was murdered.

A website for the documentary film states the film takes a look at Lacy’s death and its inconsistencies. The film also explores Lacy’s death in the context of the historic lynchings of African Americans and other racial violence.

The film is scheduled to be screened seven times during the Sundance Film Festival and on February 10 at the Oxford Film Festival in Oxford, Michigan.
