Bethany Lesane was selected for a summer internship at Duke Medical Center in Durham. She was chosen as one of eight candidates who applied through the 2018 Clinical Health Summer program at North Carolina Central University in Durham. 

Currently classified as a sophomore at NCCU, Bethany was the youngest participant in the program. The internship was for six weeks beginning  May 14 through June 22, 2018. Lesane worked in the Duke Dermatology unit under the direction of Dr. Russel P. Hall, III and Dr. John C. Murray, Director of Duke Dermatology. There she shadowed doctors and medical students assisting in medical procedures of patients with skin disorders in need of treatment.

Lesane’s major at NCCU is Biological and Bio-medical sciences with a pre-medical concentration and a minor in Spanish and she aspires to become a dermatologist. She is a 2017 graduate of East Bladen High School. She is the daughter of the late Murray Lesane Jr. and Althea D. Weaver and Gregory M. Weaver of East Arcadia and Spring Hope, N.C.
