AH_small_BW_a_pcOn Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 11 a.m. until noon, we invite you to bring your American flag to help us welcome our newest fellow citizens’ as Moores Creek National Battlefield and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) host a Naturalization Ceremony in cooperation with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  Hundreds will be on hand as 60 individuals are sworn in as new American citizens to this great country.  Guest speakers include Judge Marion Warren, Director of the Administration Office of the courts; Lisa Wohlrab, Acting Field Office Director of the North Carolina USCIS; Ricardo Perez, Park Superintendent.

The annual Junior Ranger Day will take place immediately following this historic event, from noon – 4 p.m., where children and their families are invited out to participate in hands-on history and learn about their National Park.  This free event will include blacksmithing demonstrations, bread baking, toys and games, quill pen writing, musket and cannon demonstrations, and militia encampments.  Upon completion of their activities, children will be sworn in as official Junior Rangers and will receive a patch, badge, and certificate.    

We invite you to pack a picnic and visit us on April 30 for this historic occasion, one in which we are sure will leave a lasting memory in your children’s life.
