Commissioner Arthur Bullock asked during a Special Called meeting of the Bladen County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday how it was decided Chairman Charles Ray Peterson and Commissioner Ashley S. Trivette were placed on the Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial Board. Chairman Peterson replied it was a decision left up to the BBAI board. Peterson stated BBAI selected which commissioners would serve on the Executive Board and Board of Directors.

A question was asked regarding whether the mission of BBAI has changed. Chairman Peterson replied nothing changed as far as the missions of BBAI, the Committee of 100, or the Bladen County Economic Development Commission.

Bladen County Manager Greg Martin told the board one issue which will be coming before the board is a request for another Commissioner position on the Economic Development Committee. Currently, Commissioner Cogdell is the only member of the Commissioner Board serving on the EDC.

Commissioner David Gooden asked, “Do you have voting rights on that board (BBAI)?

Peterson said,  “I don’t think I have voting rights on the Executive Board.”

Peterson explained he also has a seat on the BBAI Board of Directors but does not think he has a vote on that board either. Commissioner Trivette does have a vote on the Board of Directors, according to Peterson.

It was explained Chairman Peterson will rotate off the Executive Board of BBAI when his term as Chairman ends. Commissioner Trivette will remain on the BBAI Board of Directors as long as she remains an elected County Commissioner.
