Conditions deemed safe after Remnants of Hurricane Pass Through NC

NC DOTRALEIGH – North Carolina ferries resumed their normal schedules Friday morning, after heavy winds subsided and conditions were deemed safe by the state Ferry Division.

Heavy winds from the remnants of Hurricane Michael, which pounded parts of North Carolina with wind and soaking rain, forced state officials to temporarily suspend all ferry operations along the coast Thursday.

For the safety of passengers and ferry crews, the state’s ferries do not run during potentially unsafe weather. Winds at times exceeded 30 mph along the North Carolina coast.
