The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced an update on road closings for Bladen County. In the announcement, the department indicated the US 701 bridge will be narrowed to one lane, and the Elwell Ferry continues to be closed.

The US 701 bridge over the Cape Fear River will be narrowed to one lane and operate under flagger control nightly from 7 pm to 6 am beginning at 7 pm on February 2 and ending at 6 am on February 4 in order to perform an expansion joint repair. Normal two-way traffic operations will resume during daytime hours.

US Highway 701N
The both lanes of the North Bound US Highway 701 over the Cape Fear River is closed. Traffic will be rerouted to the Southbound lanes. The closure has a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION.
Elwell Ferry
Elwell Ferry is closed.
