Elwell Ferry, the cable-operated ferry that crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53, is closed due to high water through Thursday, July 20, the N.C. Department of Transportation announced Monday morning.
The ferry connects Carvers Creek and Kelly. It’s located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.
Other road-related announcements for Bladen County include:
• State Road 1103 (Evers Road): Closed to replace crosslines starting Monday, July 17 at 8:30 a.m. through July 27 at 5 p.m.
• US 701N: All traffic has been routed to the new bridge crossing the Cape Fear River in Elizabethtown. The closure has a Wide Load Traffic Restriction.
