Elwell Ferry will remain closed through at least Tuesday, April 25 because of high water levels, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
The cable-operated ferry crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53 connecting Carvers Creek and Kelly. It’s located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.
Other road-related announcements for Bladen County include:
•State Road 1745 (Baltimore Road) closed Wednesday, April 19 for crossline repairs. The road is scheduled to reopen May 3.
• A portion of State Road 1003 (Twisted Hickory) closed Monday, April 17 for crossline repairs. The road is expected to reopen Friday, April 28.
• US 701N: Both lanes of the northbound side over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic is being rerouted to the southbound lanes. The closure has a wide load traffic restriction.
