RALEIGH – Communities now have more time to enter a contest for the state’s best multimodal transportation projects.

The deadline to enter the 2024 N.C. Department of Transportation Mobi Awards has been extended to June 28. It had originally been set at March 1.

Also, NCDOT has rescheduled the ceremony to honor the winners of this year’s NCDOT Mobi Awards. The new ceremony will be held during a luncheon at noon Oct. 11 at the Raleigh Convention Center, instead of May 22. The October event will be the fourth NCDOT Mobi Awards ceremony.

The N.C. Department of Transportation has extended the deadline for entries into this year’s contest honoring the state’s best multimodal projects. Communities have until June 28 to enter the 2024 NCDOT Mobi Awards. An awards ceremony is now set for Oct. 11.

The NCDOT launched the Mobi Awards in 2019 to showcase multimodal projects such as greenways and complete streets projects that spurred economic development and improved communities’ quality of life and public health.

An essential part of North Carolina’s future are multimodal projects because they provide transportation alternatives, better connect people to places, and enhance the state’s appeal and competitiveness.

Interested in entering the contest?

Entries for the NCDOT Mobi Awards can come from towns, cities, counties, universities/colleges, planning organizations, public transit systems, airport authorities or councils of government.

Entries must serve at least two modes of transportation, such as bicycle, pedestrian, rail, roads, public transit, ferry and aviation projects. To enter the contest, North Carolina communities need to have projects that have been completed and put into operation, or service. Projects entered must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2019. For more information and contest rules, please visit the NCDOT web page devoted to the Mobi Awards.
