CLARKTON— There is excitement here at Bladen Online as our news team is growing with the addition of Erin Smith who will take on the role of editor.

“Erin brings a lot of experience with her and we look forward to having her on our team,” said Bladen Online owner Charlotte Smith.

Many folks may be familiar with Erin Smith as she worked most recently as a general assignment reporter with the Bladen Journal. She comes to Bladen Online with a combined 12 years of experience in the field of journalism as she has actually worked twice at the Bladen Journal–1997 to 2001 and again from December 2007 to October 2015.

“I enjoyed my time working for the Bladen Journal over the years and I learned a lot from both Michael Simmons and Curt Vincent. Of coming to Bladen Online, I felt it was time to challenge myself and utilize my creativity in a different way by exploring other media formats in the world of journalism,” said Erin Smith. “I knew that Charlotte was looking for someone and I was looking to grow my career in a different direction, and the opportunity was a good fit.”

Charlotte Smith said the addition will allow Bladen Online to grow as well.

“Since we now have added Erin to our team as the editor I see a lot of potential for us as far as being able to cover more stories that are of interest to our community and we also plan on expanding and adding more content to our You Tube channel,” said Charlotte Smith.

She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from East Carolina University and is a member of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club.

Erin Smith also serves as a part-time United Methodist Church pastor with the Garland Charge. She also attends Duke Divinity School.
